been keeping busy, going to my cousin's wedding banquet, my grandmother's 80th birthday dinner, and my grandparent's 50th anniversary... looootsa family time. (dan, it just isn't the same without you ) even though a lot of people were *supposedly* coming to taiwan, no one came... poop! but it's ok it's still been fun with family and going out with cousins :)
i'm loving this rest and relaxation. gonna eat a lot of stinky tofu muahahha. hope everyone had a merry christmas!
| to major in business, or not to major in business? --that is the question.
i'm xanga-ing at work.. because for some reason xanga doesn't work in my apartment anymore. haha so this is gonna be real short. i'm just wondering if i should apply for haas or not if i'm not too thrilled about the people in my business classes. buttttt it's practical! i have to decide soon, since applications are due in november. anyway.. just some thoughts. back to work!
| 7 days left as a "teen"...

| summer school ended! (a while ago i know). i decided to fly down to
austin, texas on the spur of the moment, to visit dan and help him move
down to start his new life as a "yuppie" (apparently this term means a
young professional, and there are lots of these in austin). so dan
picked me up from the airport, and on the way out, i had my first
encounter with a real texan. as we pulled up to the toll booth, the guy
at the booth eyed us both and said in a slow, southern drawl, "yew
fo'ks are frum payn-sil-vane-nya?" it took us a while to figure out how
he knew, since our pennsylvanian license plate is on the back of the
car... but later after we parked and got out i noticed that the
registration stickers for PA and texas are different. those guys are
good!
it's true that everything in texas is big... the cars, the food, the
people... even the bathroom stalls!! at this mall in dallas, the
bathroom stalls were like two times the size of the ones back in
berkeley... i was amazed. i coulda done a somersault in the stall if i
wanted too i think... although that would be pretty gross.
ppl here in texas take their bbq pretty seriously too. at this place
called rudy's, after you finish eating, they have a hand-washing
machine for you. all you do is stick your hands into two holes on the
machine and the water starts swishing around with soap, kinda like a
mini-washing machine. serious luxuries for serious eaters! i guess it's
part of texan pride.. theres a lot of texas state flags and "texas
longhorn" allusions... even the toll booth pass thingies are called
"toll tags" and the sign for it is this big T that kinda looks like a
longhorn.. i guess... and a lot of cars have a little silver longhorn
on them... and i see a lot of ppl wearing shirts that just say "Texas"
on them.
i like texas :) basically i just helped around the apartment when the
movers came, and then we drove up to dallas to pick up our friend
jocelyn to take her down to austin (cuz she goes to utexas) and she's
living here with us for a couple of days. just a couple of nice
relaxing days before the frenzy of school starts up.
ps- ihop is serving funnel cakes now! i think it's only a temporary thing so get to an ihop if you can!! yum funnel cakes
